This comes just hours after the Sports Tribunal asked KPL to decide whether or not the league match will be played.
A statement from KPL signed by CEO Jack Oguda and obtained by Goal has revealed the decision by KPL to postpone the match that was planned for Bukhungu Stadium.
“Following the decision by the Sports Tribunal late this evening (Wednesday) which reinforced the mandate of KPL as prescribed in the FKF-KPL Agreement, to run the league, thus granting KPL the power to make a final decision on the matter.
“After consultation with the KPL Executive Committee, this is to confirm that the AFC Leopards v Gor Mahia match that was scheduled to be played at Bukhungu Stadium on Saturday, May 26, has been postponed.
“A new date and venue for the match will be communicated next week after consultations with the home that is AFC Leopards.
“The Kenyan Premier League will continue to respect and support the rule of law in Kenyan football and their determination to protect the integrity and reputation of the Kenyan league.”
