Black Leopards and Ivan Minnaert await court date

Leopards and the Belgian are awaiting their court date for an alleged attempted murder charge against their former team manager

Black Leopards and their former coach Ivan Minnaert are still waiting a court date for an alleged attempted murder charge the Belgian coach laid against the club’s team manager, Elijah Mulaudzi.

"It was the team manager. I'm not allowed to say his name but I think the son [chairman David Thidiela's son Chief Thidiela] was there also," Minnaert was reported to have stated on Kickoff.

Minnaert was left with bruises on his arm when he tried to avoid being hit by a car that Mulaudzi had come to collect. Furthermore, Minnaert’s contract was terminated after one month in the hotseat.

"According to the termination letter I had to bring it [the car] on Wednesday at 17h00. I stood in front of the car because he did not have permission [a letter] to take the car.

"He had no right to take the car, but fortunately I managed to move out of the way on time. After a while he came back and he tried to hit me, he pushed me. I went to the police and they investigated the case, two days later they arrested him.

"I don't know I need to wait [court case date]. They released him on bail but they charged him with attempted murder," Minnaert said.

As a result, he only managed six games, winning only two for the NFD side.

Leopards spokesperson Berry Ramunenyiwa confirmed that there is a legal battle taking place with their former coach, but refused to elaborate further on the case.

"The truth is we've indeed parted ways with him. But as for some other issues we can't give a comment because they are now in court.

“He is not part of the team anymore. One thing is that...whatever he is alleging we cannot as a team comment on at the moment, because whatever we say will not matter as the case is in court. It's an assault case," Ramunenyiwa is reported to have stated in Kickoff.
