Bidvest Wits midfielder Kobamelo Kodisang secures move to Portuguese club AD Sanjoanense

The teenager has found a temporary home in Europe following a frustrating season with the Clever Boys

Bidvest Wits midfielder Kobamelo Kodisang has secured a move to Portuguese club AD Sanjoanense.

The São João da Madeira-based side which is campaigning in Portugal's third-tier league, has snapped up the South Africa youth international on a season-long loan deal.

This was confirmed on the Sanjoanense's official website as they look to gain promotion to Portugal's second tier league.

A club statement: "Kobamelo Kodisang joins Sanjoanense. At 19, the South African striker has signed a contract valid for next season."

"With recognized quality, Kodisang is a young international for South Africa, having played in the U17 World Championship in 2015 and the U20 World Championship in 2017."

The attacking midfielder has already made his debut for Sanjoanense, who are currently placed third on the Campeonato de Portugal standings having collected 13 points from six games.

The top two teams from the league will qualify for the promotional play-offs which will be held at the end of the campaign.

Kodisang struggled for game time at Wits last season making only four appearances in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) - netting once in the process.

The former Platinum Stars playmaker was expected to command a regular place at Wits, but coach Gavin Hunt opted for more experienced players in his position.

The Clever Boys signed Kodisang from Stars on a long-term deal in 2017 and he will be looking to impress at Sanjoanense, and earn himself a permanent deal with the European club.
