Betting Tips for Today: Slavia Praha can make home advantage count against Zenit

Zenit St. Petersburg have already secured top spot in Europa League Group C with a match to spare.

The leaders can still have a significant impact on who joins them in the next round though as they visit second place Slavia Praha on Thursday.

FC Copenhagen and Bordeaux contest the other match and a win for either side combined with Praha losing could see a serious shake up in the standings.

Zenit are top of the Russian Premier League table going into the mid-season break but as the only team with no pressure on their result and a poor away record it's 9/2 (5.50) that they come out on top in this one.

A draw is available at 13/5 (3.60) with 888Sport while the home side are just 4/6 (1.67) to win the game and that's understandable given Zenit's recent form on the road.

The visitors have lost three of their previous four away games so it’s understandable to see the hosts at such short odds albeit there look to be better priced selections worth considering.

Praha's main issue has been a lack of cutting edge. Despite conceding just three times they've only netted twice at the other end in five Europa League group stage ties this term.

There is a need for the hosts to force the issue here though. A draw would move them on to eight points and they have a superior head-to-head record over Copenhagen so that would be enough to see them through.

The fact that all three teams apart from the group winners have a goal difference of -1 means there is a good chance that the second spot is decided on such a metric.

Given Zenit have leaked 10 times in their previous four outings on the road, going against the trend of low-scoring clashes involving Slavia Praha could be worth a small interest.

The visitors should still pose plenty of threat and without domestic obligations until March, there is no real reason for them to heavily rotate the side that has already racked up 11 points so far.

The Russian side may have only won two of their last 10 away games in this competition, but they've found the net in seven of those. Meanwhile Praha may need to take more chances than they usually would in pursuit of a vital victory. With that that in mind, opting for an uncharacteristically goal-laden game at odds-against is worth a go.
