Betting Tips for Today: Charlton look overpriced to see off struggling Doncaster

The Addicks had a superb season in front of their own fans and look excellent value to book their place at Wembley with a win over travel-sick Rovers

Charlton Athletic will be hoping to capitalise on their 2-1 win at Doncaster Rovers in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final when the sides meet again in south-east London on Friday.

Lyle Taylor and Joe Aribo’s goals mean the Addicks have one foot in the final and know that avoiding defeat at The Valley will see them secure their spot at Wembley on May 26.

888Sport offer 17/20 (1.85) that the hosts are able to reach the final in style with victory against Grant McCann’s men, who are 3/1 (4.0) to win on the night. The draw trades at 5/2 (3.50).

Given Charlton’s home record this season, it is extremely difficult to look past that 17/20 (1.85) price on them booking their place in the final with a victory.

Only League One winners Luton Town secured more points in front of their own fans than the Addicks did, with their tally of 53 coming courtesy of 16 wins and five draws in 23 games.

Since a 2-1 defeat to Coventry at the start of October, Charlton have won 13 and lost none of their 17 fixtures at The Valley whilst conceding just eight goals – including a 2-0 victory over McCann's outfit.

A win to nil, as Charlton managed in 35 per cent of their home matches this term, is priced at 41/20 (3.05) and that may also be of interest considering how Doncaster have fared away from home.

Rovers failed to record a single away victory over any top-half club this season, losing six and scoring just seven times in those 11 matches. As well, Doncaster managed just one win in their final ten away games of the campaign.

Having lost the first leg, there is little to suggest that Friday’s visitors will put up much of a fight at The Valley – even more so when you factor in the fact they kept just two away clean sheets all season.

The 17/20 (1.85) price, then, on Charlton taking their spot at Wembley with a win over Doncaster looks too good to miss ahead of this clash.
