Steve McClaren West Brom v QPR Championship 180818
Steve McClaren's side were on the wrong end of a 7-1 thrashing at the weekend and things could get worse at they face the Robins at Loftus Road

The Championship season is just three rounds old for most clubs but QPR are already looking every inch relegation candidates.

Three straight defeats see Steve McClaren's side rooted to the foot of the table and the manner of their last result will be concerning to the former England boss.

West Brom were ruthless in smashing seven goals past Rangers at the Hawthorns but the hosts are narrow favourites at 6/4 (2.50) to pick up three points against Bristol City on Tuesday night.

The visitors are yet to pick up a win themselves, having their opening two games with Nottingham Forest and Bolton before Saturday's defeat to high-flying Middlesbrough.

The Robins are available at 21/10 (3.10) to win this clash at Loftus Road while bet365 go 23/10 (3.30) that they're forced to share the spoils for the third time in four league games.

While the 7-1 defeat QPR suffered last time out is a freak result, it does cast doubts over their credentials this term with the manager under increasing pressure to deliver. The club will be under a transfer embargo from January and McClaren has admitted his squad needs strengthening using the loan window over the next couple of weeks.

That's the case for Bristol City manager Lee Johnson too, his side dealing with several injuries including captain Korey Smith, who looks set to miss an extended period due to requiring surgery.

However, the visitors have shown some encouraging flashes in their opening three league games, particularly against Boro when they hit the woodwork twice, and they're worthy of support as the underdogs in this clash against a team bereft of confidence.

City had 16 shots in their 2-2 draw with Bolton in which they came from 2-0 to snatch a point and put in an impressive first half performance in the opening game of the campaign but failed to reproduce that after the break.

While there is the obvious caveat of their injury worries, the away side have created plenty in the final third thus far. If they can replicate those kinds of displays across a full 90 minute period, three points won’t be far away and there might not be many better opportunities than this.

Against a team who have shipped 10 goals in three matches and look so vulnerable at the back, Bristol City could pick up their first victory of the season and at 11/10 (2.10) in the Draw No Bet market with bet365 they look a solid selection.

This bet sees your stake returned if the match ends all square while still offering a juicy price about an away win which would heap more pressure on QPR and their under-fire manager.
