Real Madrid v Manchester United Betting Special: Look beyond Ronaldo for the best goalscorer selection

On a grey August evening in northern Norway last year, Marco Asensio scored the opening goal in Real Madrid's 3-2 victory over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.

The youngster was making his debut for the European champions and took just 21 minutes before breaking the deadlock with a spectacular long distance strike.

That was Madrid's first goal of the season and it was Asensio who scored their last too, finishing off Juventus with the fourth goal in the Champions League final back in June. In his first season at the Bernabeu, the 21-year-old showed himself to already be a player for the big occasion and he looks set to get another chance to shine in Tuesday's Super Cup.

The Majorcan-born forward is likely to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in the starting line-up with Ronaldo only returning to training on Saturday following an extended summer break, although the Ballon d'Or winner is listed in the squad for the game.

Asensio is offered at a healthy looking 9/1 (10.00) with dabblebet to score first and at 11/4 (3.75) to score at anytime, although Ronaldo remains the market leader at 13/5 (3.60) to break the deadlock and 7/10 (1.70) to find the back of the net.

This is Madrid's third appearance in the fixture in the last four years, while United are contesting it for the first time since 2008. On that occasion United were defending European champions but lost 2-1 to Zenit St Petersburg, while this year it is the Reds who are the underdogs against the continent's dominant side.

The summer though has been encouraging for Jose Mourinho's men and big signings like Romelu Lukaku have brought the best out of some existing squad members. One such player is Henrikh Mkyhitaryan with the Armenian looking extremely sharp in pre-season. The former Borussia Dortmund man netted three times over the summer and is offered at 12/5 (3.40) to score once more, while Lukaku is United's shortest priced player to net at 23/30 (2.20) .

Elsewhere in the scorers market, Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has a habit of scoring in big games with the first of his 10 goals last season coming in this fixture against Sevilla.

The 31-year-old is offered at 9/2 (5.50) to score again while for United the arrival of Nemanja Matic could free up Paul Pogba to have a more dynamic presence going forward and the Frenchman can be backed at 15/4 (4.75) to score at any time during the 90 minutes..
