Watford vs Man City (X2 & Over 2.5 – 1.60)
When Man City travelled to Watford on the final day of last season they cruised to a comfortable 0-5 win. But now this is a different outfit under Marco Silva and free scoring City will be in for a tough game. The attacking options at Pep Guardiola’s disposal means they have to be favoured for this, but given Watford’s good form, an away double chance and over 2.5 goals is our recommendation.
Chelsea vs Arsenal (1X – 1.19)
After all the initial feeling of unrest at Stamford Bridge this season, some convincing wins have steadied the ship and they go into this tie against Arsenal as favourites. We would back the home win but the Gunners often produce their best performances when expectations are low, like last year’s FA Cup Final, so they could eek out a draw if the Blues aren’t on their game.
AC Milan vs Udinese (1 – 1.42)
The dreams of glory days returning to AC Milan looked to be delusions of grandeur after last weekend’s humiliating 0-4 defeat to Lazio. Their response to that setback will highlight whether they can actually challenge for trophies this year. With leaders like Bonucci in the changing room, we feel they will respond with a home win to silence the critics.
Man Utd vs Everton (1 – 1.40)
Man Utd dropped their first points of the Premier League campaign at Stoke, but after a convincing Champions League win on Tuesday, they should return to winning ways here. Expect Everton to sit back and try to frustrate the home side, like they did when they earned a 1-1 draw at Man City. The game offers an interesting subplot as Rooney returns to Old Trafford, and Lukaku faces Everton. But despite all the back story, United’s various attacking options mean they have to be favoured.
PSG vs Lyon (1 & Over 2.5 – 1,32)
We all knew that PSG would improve with the addition of Neymar, Mbappe and Dani Alves, but their start to the season has been even more impressive than we could have imagined. Scoring 19 goals in 5 Ligue 1 games highlights the devastating attacking talent they have at their disposal, and they should cruise to another home win here while scoring a few in the process.
Getafe vs Barcelona (2 – 1.27)
Off the Nou Camp pitch it’s been rough with Neymar’s departure, Coutinho’s lack of arrival and the unrest towards the president Bartomeu. However on the pitch it’s been smooth sailing as new coach Ernesto Valverde has got Barcelona off to a flying start. Getafe will provide a stern test but with confidence high, and Lionel Messi scoring for fun, the away win seems a good call here.
