The English tactician recently guided Matsatsantsa to the 2017 Caf Confederation Cup group stage.
“When Sundowns got to the final, I am sure the players were talking to each other and there was unity in the country, and this is what they want to create," Baxter told City Press.
"It was a good feeling and we want to create the same vibe,” he continued.
Baxter also refuted reports stating that he did not take continental football seriously when he was in charge of Kaizer Chiefs, who failed to reach the group stage between 2012 and 2015.
“Those were perceptions that people made a big deal about when I was at Chiefs because we took an under-strength team," he explained.
"But that was the club’s decision, not mine. I have approached it the same way.
“When you get this far, you believe you can get through if you get a decent draw," Baxter stressed.
"Sometimes you need the luck of a draw so you don’t have to travel the length and breath of the continent," he concluded.
SuperSport are in Group D along with Guinean side Horoya, Gabonese club CF Mounana and DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.
The group stage matches will be played between May and July 2017.
