'Barcelona and Real Madrid do lose' - Nwabouku on Rivers Angels' poor show

Rivers Angels' Evelyn Nwabouku says her side's Super Four outing was poor but she insists they will learn from it just as Barcelona and Real Madrid do when they fumble.

Edwin Okon's ladies failed to defend the Nigeria's women topflight title in Benin, leaving the Super Four tournament empty-handed after two defeats and a draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

But the Super Falcons captain admits they have learned some lessons from their poor campaign with hopes to right their wrongs in the Federation Cup final.

"The tournament has ended for us and it is a good one. At least, we have learned one or two things and are not disappointed at all," Nwabouku told Goal.

"It is football. Since Barcelona and Real Madrid do lose matches and life still goes on. It is just for us to learn from our poor performance at the tournament and move on.

"It doesn't mean anything. We need to sit down and look at what we didn't do well in the Super Four and plan well for next season," she continued.

"Pick the few lessons from the tournament and try not to allow it happen again. In football, anything can happen though it is a bitter one then, we still have the Federation Cup final ahead of us.

"The expectations on Rivers Angels have always been high and we don't see this as a different ball game. We know what is expected of us, having failed to come out tops in defending our title at the Super Four. We hope to give it our best shot in the Federation Cup and hopefully, we will win the trophy in the final."
