Bale set for 50th Wales cap against Belgium

The winger has come under criticism from Real Madrid's fans in recent weeks but has played a key role in Chris Coleman's side qualifying campaign so far

Gareth Bale is set to rack up his 50th cap for Wales after being named in the squad to face Belgium in next month's Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

The forward has faced criticism for his club form at Real Madrid this season, with many fans and pundits making him a scapegoat during a disappointing campaign that resulted in coach Carlo Ancelotti being sacked on Monday.

Bale continues to be a star turn for Wales, though, and he will reach the half-century landmark at the Cardiff City Stadium in a crucial Group B fixture.

Chris Coleman's side are second in the pool, behind Belgium only on goal difference, and victory on home soil would go a long way to securing a first major tournament appearance since the 1958 World Cup.

Former Tottenham man Bale has already scored four goals in qualifying - including a brace in a 3-0 triumph in Israel in Wales' last qualifier in March.

Hull City defender James Chester returns to the fold having missed out last time with a shoulder injury, while Andy King is back from suspension.

Injured duo James Collins and Ben Davies miss out on the 23-man party.
