Abu reveals reasons behind Shooting Stars move

The Supersand Eagles player has revealed why he joined the Oluyole Warriors during the mid-season transfer break

Abu Azeez has revealed why he joined Shooting Stars despite their poor form in the current Nigeria Professional Football League season.

The winger said the Oluyole Warriors are a traditional team and that among other reasons motivated his move to the Lekan Salami Stadium during the mid-season transfer break.

"I joined Shooting Stars because they are a traditional Premier League club, and they called me to come and play, so I had to answer their call," Azeez told Goal.

"I will just try and do my best; if it is possible I help them escape relegation, fine but in all God knows best.

"I knew they were struggling when I joined them but you and I know anything is possible in football, with or without me, they can escape relegation. It is not as if I came to join them to save them, I just came to play good football and that’s just it.

"I must confess I had offers from distant clubs but I chose Shooting because I don’t want to be far away from Lagos for my own personal reasons." He continued.

"I didn’t quit Enyimba because of lack of playing time, I chose not to renew the one-year contract I signed with them which expired at the end of last season, so, I had already left before the arrival of coach Gbenga Ogunbote, and not because I wasn’t getting playing time at the club."
