Taiwo Awoniyi scores on Royal Excel Mouscron debut

The Nigerian got the curtain raiser for his side as they coasted to victory over their depleted hosts

Taiwo Awoniyi scored on his debut to lead Royal Excel Mouscron to a 2-0 away victory over Lokeren in a Belgian top-flight encounter on Saturday.

The on-loan Liverpool striker was on target in the 23rd minute to give Mircea Rednic men the lead before Dimitri Mohamed wrapped up victory for Stade Le Canonnier outfit six minutes after the hour mark.

The hosts were reduced to ten men after Koen Persoons received his second caution of the tie in the 79th minute.

Sebastien Locigno replaced Awoniyi on the stroke of full time. And will be hoping to continue his great start to life in Belgium when his side host Gent in their next league encounter on August 20.
