The Gabon forward netted his 18th and 19th goals of the season on his 20th appearance of the campaign

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted a brace to inspire Borussia Dortmund to a 3-0 win over Freiburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos opened the scoring before Aubameyang’s second half brace to clinch Thomas Tuchel his 100th win as a Bundesliga coach. This was also the defender's first league goal since December 2015 and it came on his 150th Bundesliga game.

Sokratis nodded home Marco Reus’ free kick to make it 1-0 to the visitors in the 13th minute.

Reus notched another assist when he beat the off-side trap shortly after the halftime break before tricking his way past a defender and setting Aubameyang for an easy 55th minute tap-in for his 18th goal of the season.

Aubameyang would then seal his brace with another easy finish after Erik Durm’s cut back in the 70th minute - his 19th of the season on his 20th appearance.

The Gabon skipper’s recent form has been of huge concern to some sections of Dortmund’s fans who fear losing him in the next transfer window. The 27-year-old also allowed his biggest rival Robert Lewandowski - who scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich crushed Hamburg 8-0 - catch up with him on 20 goals, although the latter has played two league matches more.

Lewandowski walked away with the Golden Boot gong after finishing last season with 30 goals to his name whilst ‘Auba’ could only afford 25 and the duo is expected to once again battle it out for the top accolade this campaign.
