Aswani on target as Nakumatt hold Nzoia Sugar

Nzoia Sugar battled at home to draw Nakumatt in a league match played on Friday

Nakumatt held Nzoia Sugar to a 1-1 draw in a Kenyan Premier League match played at Sudi Stadium on Friday.

Former AFC Leopards striker Kepha Aswani put his Nakumatt side in the lead in the first-half before Boniface Omondi equalized for Nzoia Sugar in the second half.

Aswani, latched on a rebound from Nzoia Sugar keeper after skipper Peter Nzuki had unleased a rasping shot towards the goal in the 30th minute.

The hosts then struggled in search of an equalizer thereafter, with a number attempts which one bore fruit in the 55th minute courtesy of Boniface Omondi. He made use of Elvis Rupia’s pass in the danger-zone to beat Sammy Okinda in goal.

The rest of the match was a cagey show with both sides looking for a winner to no avail. Even the six minutes of added time did not break the deadlock.

Elsewhere, Mathare United suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Paul Nkata coached Bandari in the day’s early kick-off match played at Machakos County Stadium.
