Argentina v Nigeria Betting: Friendly match unlikely to be a spectacle for Russian neutrals

Comments()
The South Americans have been reliant on Lionel Messi recently and with the Barca man missing we think this clash in Russia will see few goals

It was not their best performance, but Argentina's 1-0 victory over Russia last week meant that the Albiceleste began their preparations for the World Cup in positive fashion.

Sergio Aguero scored four minutes from the end of a game which Argentina had dominated without ever really shining, although they did enjoy 70 percent possession and 20 shots against the Russians.

Whether they are as dominant against Nigeria in Krasnodar on Tuesday remains to be seen, and Betsafe price a win for Jorge Sampaoli's men at 53/100 (1.53).

Nigeria, for their part, qualified for the World Cup in more straight-forward fashion than Argentina, and Africa's most populous nation are priced at 99/20 (5.95) to record a win, with the draw available at 61/20 (4.05).

Though he played 90 minutes against Russia, Lionel Messi will not feature against Nigeria having returned to Barcelona; the Argentine squad remains full of talented players, of course, not least Aguero - whose 35th international goal moved him up to third on the country's all-time scoring list.

However, the two-time World Cup winners have had serious problems in front of goal this year and they have been reliant on Messi for creativity as well as scoring, and discounting their friendly against Singapore back in June, seven of Argentina's last eight games have seen under 2.5 goals and a repeat is offered at 91/100 (1.91).

Nigeria have seen six of their last seven matches in all competitions produce less than three goals, thus reinforcing this selection.

The match will be played in the neutral venue of Krasnodar in southern Russia, meaning there will be little in the way of atmosphere, and this could add to the chances of this game being a low-key affair with few goals scored.

Another tempting option for this encounter is opposing both teams to score at 4/5 (1.80) while a goalless opening 45 minutes at 31/20 (2.55) could also interest and is a selection which has paid out in four of Argentina's last five games.
