Amara Baby on target as Sporting Charleroi thump Eupen

Amara Baby was on target as Sporting Charleroi defeated Eupen 4-1 in Sunday’s Belgian First Division A encounter at the Kehrwegstadion.

Having failed to claim victory in any of their previous four games, including a loss to Antwerp in their opening 2018-19 league tie, Felice Mazzu’s side returned to winning ways in a spectacular manner.

The Zebras started the game on an uninspiring note with Francisco Javier Martos turning the ball into his own net in the tenth minute.

However, the Senegalese soon levelled proceedings for the Stade du Pays de Charleroi outfit with off Cristian Benavente's assist.

Kaveh Rezaei then put the visitors in front for the first time in the tie just before Claude Makelele’s men were reduced to ten men after Eric Ocansey was sent off.

Ten minutes before the full time, Jeremy Perbet increased the lead, with Rezaei striking the final blow - his brace - at the death to hand Charleroi maximum points.

The result saw Sporting Charleroi move to the seventh spot with three points from two games.

Baby will be looking to continue the impressive form for his side when they play host to Anderlecht in their next league encounter on August 12.
