All is not well: Kenyan coach Sebastien Migne has threatened to resign three times

Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne has on three occasions threatened to resign, Goal can exclusively reveal.

The Frenchman, who replaced Paul Put after signing a three-year contract in May, is not happy with current situation in the team especially after going for two months without receiving the salary.

An official with FKF has told Goal that they have on three occasions begged the coach to stay despite the problems. “Before we played against Ghana, the coach was not happy and wanted out, we begged him to stay, and again after the match against Ghana, he was ready to quit.

“The third time was after the Malawi match. On all the occasions, the coach is not happy because the government has delayed paying his salaries. He has the family around, the kids are schooling in Kenya (French school) and you can understand the pain he goes through if the pay delays.

“He is a very good and understanding coach and if handled well, he can do wonders for Kenya. He has proved already what he can achieve and all that he needs is the support of everyone, and especially from the government.”

On Saturday, Goal exclusively reported that the coach is now owed a two months’ salary accruing to Sh4million. "The coach is now owed Sh4million, he only received salaries for May and June, the debt could double if not cleared in time as we are heading to another new month,” said a source, who did not want to be named.

Migne has already won two matches with Kenya, after the crucial Ghana win, he managed to beat Malawi’s Flame by a similar score line but in a friendly. The win against Ghana revived Kenya’s hopes of reaching the 2019 Afcon finals as they moved three points level with the Black Stars.
