Ajax Cape Town sign Zambian midfielder Funga

Zambian ace Funga has joined the Urban Warriors after being on a lengthy trial at Ikamva

Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Ajax Cape Town have announced the signing of Aubrey Funga.

The Zambian, who helped Zanaco win the 2016 MTN FAZ Super League title, had been on trial at the Mother City side.

However, after impressing Stanley Menzo whilst on trial, the midfielder earned himself a four-year deal with the PSL club.

The 26-year-old expressed his desire to put on the famous red and white jersey, and reignite the form that saw him shoot to stardom at The Bankers.

“I want to be myself, play like I did at Zanaco, I am a goal scorer and goal creator; that [attribute] has helped all the teams I have played for and I think that will also help here – those are qualities that can get you into any team,” a confident Funga told the Ajax's official website.

“The club, administrators and supporters look for that type of quality and I think I will be a good addition to the team and add value," he said.

“This is a good place, a good thing to have on my CV and the perfect stepping stone for great things to follow because there are great players here, that have played here [at Ajax Cape Town], which serves as great motivation to take my football to the highest level," Funga concluded.

The attacking midfielder reunites with fellow Zambian Rodrick Kabwe at the Urban Warriors.
