Ingwe want to gain momentum in the league with a win against Kakamega Homeboyz

AFC Leopards are keen on returning to winning ways when they meet Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday.

Ingwe are heading to the match from a disappointing run having fallen to Gor Mahia, Sony Sugar and drew newbies Zoo Kericho in that order.

A 4-1 loss to the Kakamega County-based club in August 2016 is also still fresh in AFC Leopards’ minds even if it was under a different head coach. They had Ivan Minnaert but now they have Englishman Stewart Hall, who has also threatened to resign if his players don’t play to his expectations.

Chairman Dan Mule has told Goal that the team is ready to play and that they will easily reap all the points from their opponents. "I know everyone in the team is not happy with our recent performance and all efforts are in place to return to winning ways. I’m confident that we will beat Kakamega Homeboyz."

On the other hand, Kakamega Homeboyz boss Cleophas Shimanyula has also sent a stern warning to Ingwe predicting a massive win for his side. "There is no shortcut come Saturday. We know we will beat them (AFC Leopards). We are representing the people of Western Kenya while AFC Leopards are playing for the people from Western but based in Nairobi and that is why we must beat them to maintain that supremacy," Shimanyula told Goal in an earlier interview.

"We respect them because they have good players and started the season well but we must take three points from them. I foresee a situation where we will beat them by more than five goals. We always like playing against AFC Leopards and that is why the date for this fixture is keenly followed by everyone at Homeboyz."

"We have few concerns in regards to injuries but a number of those players will be assessed prior to the match. Whatever the case, AFC Leopards is the kind of fixture we must win at all costs. Nothing will prevent Homeboyz from bagging maximum points," he added.

AFC Leopards are currently eighth on the log while Kakamega Homeboyz are 10th.
