AFC Cup 2018: Group Stage Matchday Three Preview: Central, South & East Zones

The AFC Cup 2018 is into the third matchday in the Central, South and East Zone. Here is a look at what awaits us this week: 


GROUP D (Central Zone):

FC Istiklol

FC Ahal (TKM) v Altyn Asyr (TKM):

FC Ahal are up against fellow Turkmenistani side Altyn Asyr on Wednesday in an intriguing Group D clash. FC Ahal are just a point below Altyn Asyr who have four points in their kitty from two games. Sparks are set to fly when the two familair foes battle and the winner is likely to challenge Istiklol for the top spot in Group D.

FC Istiklol (TJK) v FC Alay (KGZ)

Last year's finalists FC Istiklol are at home to Kyrgyzstan's FC Alay on Wednesday. The Tajikistan side will be looking to go clear at the top of Group D with a win over Alay who are yet to notch a point from their two games so far.

GROUP E (South Zone)


Aizawl vs Bengaluru AFC CUPBengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC (IND) v New Radiant SC (MDV)

India's Bengaluru FC welcome Maldives' New Radiant SC on Tuesday at the Kanteerava stadium in a crucial clash. The home team have won both their matches so far and are tied on top of the group along with their opponents on Tuesday. New Radiant are also in good form and the result in this clash is likely to go a long way in determining the winners of this group.

Aizawl FC (IND) v Abahani Limited Dhaka (BAN)

India's Aizawl FC are at home to Bangaldesh's Abahani Limited on Wednesday. Both teams are desperate to net some points after losing both their opening games in the group. Another loss in this matchday might well end their hopes of qualification.

GROUP I (East Zone): 


Hwaebul SC (PRK) v Hang Yuen SC (TPE):

North Korea's Hwaebul SC are at home to Chinese Taipei's Hang Yuen SC on Tuesday. Hwaebul and Hang Yuen are both at the bottom of the group after losing their first two games and will be desperate as a result to record their first wins in the campaign.

4.25 SC (PRK) v Benfica Macau (MAC)

North Korea's 4.25 SC welcome Benfica Macau on Wednesday in a crucial Group I clash. 4.25 SC and Benfica are both level at the top of the group, with six points each from the opening two games. 4.25 SC have the upper hand right now with respect to the goal difference but there is still a long way to go in the group.
