The 37th edition of the AFC Champions League kicks off tonight with Asia’s best teams contending for the title. The competition, which has brought together some of the world’s best Asian players and many excellent foreigners from abroad, sees the winner qualify for the FIFA Club World Cup that follows it.

Urawa Red Diamonds v Al Hilal; AFC Champions League 2017 final

32 teams participate in the Champions League, with 8 groups of 4 teams. The first 4 groups involve teams from West Asia, and the second 4 groups involve teams from East Asia. The West and East are separated until the final, with the round of 16, quarter finals and semi finals also separating the regions from each other.
