Brazil took to the training ground on Monday as they being preparations for the Chevrolet Brasil Global Tour double-headers against Argentina and Australia in Melbourne.
Coach Tite was still without 15 players as he put the players through their paces. In attendance were Diego Alves, Rafinha, Filipe Luis, Thiago Silva, Gil, David Luiz, Jemerson, Fernandinho, Renato Augusto, Philippe Coutinho, Willian, Giuliano, Gabriel Jesus, Douglas Costa and Taison.
For the most of the session at the Lakeside Stadium, the 15 players worked on a square field in which they practiced quick passing around the defensive line before breaking out downfield.
New Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli is known for his high-pressing approach and Tite appears had the players working hard on combatting a ‘full-press’.
Every one of the 15 were greeted warmly by Tite, who headed straight to the training field as he landed in Australia after travelling directly from Cardiff after watching Real Madrid defeat Juventus in the UEFA Champions League final on Saturday.
Valencia’s Diego Alves, who is tipped to be in with a chance to stake his claim as Brazil’s no.1 this month, was the lone goalkeeper in the session as the rest of the squad played attack vs defence. He was the star of the day, impressing the coaching staff with a number of fine stops.
His main rival for the place, Ederson, will join the squad on the eve of Friday’s meeting with Argentina at the Melbourne Cricket Ground after granted the time to stay at home for the birth of his daughter.
Thiago Silva and Gil look to be set to start at the heart of the defence against Argentina this week, with David Luiz and Jemerson forming the second pair of central defenders.
