Extra Time: Bedbound Giroud relaxes ahead of north London derby

The Arsenal striker scored the winner when Tottenham came to town earlier this season but has been laid low by illness but has shown his support via his Instagram account
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has a habit of scoring against Tottenham but he will get no such chance in Saturday's north London derby in the FA Cup third round.

Arsene Wenger ruled the Frenchman out of the fixture on Friday, citing the illness that sidelined him from the Gunner's 2-0 win over Cardiff on New Year's Day as the problem.

Yet, Giroud was all too happy to post a photo on Instagram to his followers in a show of support for Arsenal.

The striker, who has 11 goals in 27 appearances this season, added this message to the alluring photo of him in his bed: "Still a bit sick... Then i'll watch the north london derby at home. All the best to you guys!"

Giroud joined the Gunners in the summer of 2012 and has netted twice in three appearances against Spurs but will have to watch on as Lukas Podolski is given another start as the central striker.
