Deschamps hopeful Diaby will be ready for Belarus clash

Didier Deschamps is optimistic Abou Diaby will recover from his exertions during France's 1-0 victory over Finland on Friday evening, a game which the Arsenal midfielder also happened to score the winner in.

The 26-year-old spent the vast majority of last term sidelined through injury, but has already played in three consecutive matches for the Gunners this season, adding to his appearance against the Scandinavians.

"There is a risk for all players [to suffer from exhaustion]; for Diaby, perhaps a little more," the France coach commented to L'Equipe.

"He was getting tired, but I was not able to take him off as I had already made other changes. His athletic performance, particularly in the air, was fundamental to our win.

"We will see how he recovers, but in absolute circumstances, I don't see why he shouldn't be available on Tuesday."

Les Bleus host Belarus at Stade de France on Tuesday, in the second game of their World Cup 2014 qualifying campaign.
