Ramos hits out at Real Madrid’s medical department

The club's chief doctor Jesus Olmo has been criticised for his handling of injuries to the squad and the Spain defender admits the players have no confidence in him
Sergio Ramos has hit out at Real Madrid’s medical department and admits the team have no confidence in club doctor Jesus Olmo.

Madrid have been hit with several injuries to key players this season including James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Pepe, Dani Carvajal and Mateo Kovacic, while Ramos has required pain-killing injections to play through a shoulder problem.

Rafa Benitez has publicly backed Olmo, claiming his current medical team “are among the best I have had" but as revealed by Goal in June, there has been anger among the Madrid players following the overhaul in personnel during the summer.

When asked about Olmo and how he manages the Madrid dressing room with little backing from the players, Ramos told Cope: “Now is not the best time to talk about the medical/doctor subject, I’m not going to lie to you, it’s a reality [that there is no confidence in the doctor].

“We have to reach the end of the season in the best way possible then we can talk.”
