Aduriz admits fault in Athletic Bilbao slump

The Spanish striker has admitted he is worried that his lack of goals has contributed to the La Liga side's slump in league form

Athletic Bilbao's Aritz Aduriz has admitted that his goal drought has added to his side's poor league run in La Liga.

The Spanish striker has 12 league goals so far this campaign, but has not scored since January, in the 1-1 draw with Real Betis.

His side, meanwhile, has only won once in their last five games which has seen them slip down to 12th spot in the league.

And the 32-year-old told reporters: “It is quite a few games now without scoring and the team is suffering. I want to end this streak and hopefully I can do so from Saturday.

“There are many things to explain why you may not be scoring the goals.

"I can only continue to work well and I am convinced that they will come. All the players are working and in the end the goals will come. I hope it is soon."

And Aduriz believes that team tactics are not behind the side's problems, but says the side's players are pulling together.

“Is it about our playing style? We have a very definite style of play which is down to the coach. We have no doubt that we are unanimously agreed on that aspect of what we are doing.”
