Butragueno: This is probably Real Madrid's best-ever squad

The former Spain international is full of praise for the current side, and feels the people at Santiago Bernabeu have not seen a team of similar quality in the club's history
Real Madrid director of institutional relations Emilio Butragueno believes that the current squad is probably the best in the illustrious history of the club.

The former attacker, who wore the Madrid jersey from 1984 until 1995, feels that manager Jose Mourinho has assembled a team which is more complete than any other in the outfit's past, and has used the Portuguese coach's luxury problem up front as an example.

"This is probably Real Madrid's best-ever squad. I really think this is the most complete team in the club's history," Butragueno said to Marca.

"Just look at the situation of [Gonzalo] Higuain for example. He is one of the best attackers in the world and he has hardly played in recent months. [Karim] Benzema has returned to the team and has scored a lot.

"We are talking about a very complete squad here. Mourinho has so many options to form a team of the highest level."

Madrid hold a 10-point lead over Barcelona in La Liga, and are currently preparing for their Champions League round of 16 second leg against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.
