Real Madrid's Royston Drenthe in the dark over Benfica move as part of Fabio Coentrao deal

Dutchman, who spent the season on loan with Hercules, will return to the Bernabeu and has been mooted as a makeweight in a £22 million deal for the Portuguese full-back
Real Madrid-owned winger Royston Drenthe has said he knows nothing of a potential switch to Benfica as part of the deal for Fabio Coentrao.

Madrid were said to have revised their offer for the 23-year-old Coentrao with £22 million plus Drenthe heading to Portugal.

Drenthe was linked with the Eagles last year, but ended up with Hercules on loan. That deal will expire at the end of the month, and he will return to Madrid with a year remaining on his contract.

But the Dutchman is unaware of a move to Benfica.

Speaking to Voetball international, he said: "I don't know anything. I'm not thinking about this."

He joined the Bernabeu outfit in 2007, but has not been able to settle in the Spanish capital.
