Getafe coach Michel has lavished praise on Real Madrid legend and Schalke striker Raul, branding the striker “the Alfredo Di Stefano of the modern era”.
Michel played alongside Raul at the Santiago Bernabeu for a brief period as he emerged as a talented youngster, just as Michel's career was drawing to a close.
Speaking to the media on Monday regarding Real Madrid's aspirations in this season’s Champions League, he reserved special acclaim for the club’s all-time record goalscorer.
He said: “I would like to see Valencia pass against Schalke, but Raul is my friend, and should the Germans go through I would like to see them face Real Madrid.
"It would be a good way to do a tribute at the Santiago Bernabeu, to recognise that Raul is the Di Stefano of the modern era.”
Speaking of his role at Getafe going forward, he added that he would dearly love to commit his future to the club and attempt to help them succeed in the next few years.
He continued: “We have to reach 40 points in the league, and then the president may make me an offer. I would be delighted to take root at Getafe.”
