A fairytale no more! Buffon congratulates Champions League-bound Leicester & 'Mister' Ranieri

The manager has secured a place at the top table for the Foxes next year, and the goalkeeper welcomed his countryman to the competition ahead of a possible meeting
Juventus and Italy legend Gianluigi Buffon has paid tribute to compatriot Claudio Ranieri, after the Tinkerman guided Leicester City to the Champions League.

A 2-0 victory over Sunderland further advanced the Foxes' hopes of winning the Premier League, but also clinched them a guaranteed place in Europe's elite club competition.

Ranieri's exploits have made waves across the world, with Leicester on Monday becoming the first non-Italian side to dominate the front page of newspaper Corriere dello Sport, and Buffon made public his own support.

"Leicester is no more a fairytale, now is reality," the veteran goalkeeper wrote on his Twitter page.

"Welcome in Europe Mr. Claudio Ranieri!"
Buffon recently affirmed he plans to play two more years at the top before drawing the curtain on a glittering career.

Time enough, then, for another fairytale clash against the Foxes idol in the Champions League...
