Nesta expected to announce future plans at press conference on Thursday

The World Cup winner has struggled with a persistent back problem in recent years and there is speculation that he could very well announce his intention to retire from the game
AC Milan defender Alessandro Nesta is expected to make an statement regarding his future at a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

The Rossoneri centre-back is out of contract in the summer and he has recently been linked with a move to rivals Juventus.

However, Nesta has stated that there is no chance of him moving to Turin, and it is believed that the 36-year-old will do one of three things when he faces the press at Milanello at 13.00GMT.
12/1 Italy are 12/1 with Sportingbet to win Euro 2012.

The former Italy international, who has been plagued by back problems in recent years, could announce his retirement from the game, but it is considered far likelier that he will either reveal that he has agreed a new contract with Milan or that he is to finish his illustrious career abroad.

Nesta owns a house in Miami and is said to be open to the idea of spending at least a year plying his trade in the MLS.

Whatever he decides to do, the former Lazio captain is guaranteed a tremendous reception from Milan's supporters in Sunday's clash with Novara at San Siro.
