Leonardo salutes 'extraordinary' Inter side after Sampdoria victory

Brazilian pleased with recovery after Bayern Munich loss
Leonardo praised his "extraordinary" Inter side after they beat Sampdoria at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday.

The Brazilian wanted to get back to winning ways after the 1-0 midweek loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Wesley Sneijder and Samuel Eto'o scored in the 2-0 victory, but the Inter coach was pleased with his entire team.

"I am satisfied with the result, as it was a very delicate match," the tactician told Sky post-match. "After the loss to Bayern, it was important to win.

"Everyone played very well from Julio Cesar, to all the defence. Stankovic and Sneijder were extraordinary, as were Zanetti, Pazzini, Kharja and everyone else. Winning this evening, we had to claim more than just three points, as we are tired from our recent matches.

"We are in an excellent position on the ladder, and tomorrow I will be supporting a draw [when Milan take on Napoli]. But thinking about us, the next three league matches will help us shape our future.

"I will try to play more than two strikers, but we must keep under close watch the condition of our players, looking to strike a balance. I'm not sure whether it is better to score more goals whilst conceding just as many, or vice-versa," he concluded.

Inter currently occupy second position in Serie A, one point ahead of Napoli and two points behind AC Milan, with the two meeting on Monday night.
