Roma coach Claudio Ranieri defends his team and Francesco Totti

Italian hits back and insists players are united...

In the press conference ahead of tomorrow’s game against Bologna, Roma coach Claudio Ranieri responded to criticisms and said that the Giallorossi will be just fine.

After telling the journalists that he was going to speak out, the Romani boss underlined his faith in the team and made some encouraging comments about Francesco Totti.

“I have heard lots of things and I would like to give my opinion,” said Ranieri. “In Munich we wanted to do more, but we couldn’t manage and I am responsible for that.

“I read that [Francesco] Totti was against me, but this is not true because our dressing room is united and I have a loyal relationship with all the players. My relationship with my captain is just fine.

“Sometimes I did wrong to take him off, some others I shouldn’t have kept him on the pitch. But everything has been done for Roma’s sake.

“I have heard too many criticisms against these boys, but I would like to remind you that these players are the same who made us dream last year.

"We wanted to have a great start to the season but it didn’t go that way. Still we are not looking for excuses. My team is strong and has got ‘balls’. You will see.”

Ranieri also spoke about his tactics and Bologna.

“What do journalists know about my career and how many strategies I have used? Go and have a look to what I have done,” claimed the Tinkerman.

“Against Bologna it will be really difficult because they will be very tight at the back. But our fans will back us and we know how to make it. We did it last year and we will do it this time too.”
