RC Genk have secured the services of defender Anthony Vanden Borre from Italian side Genoa for an undisclosed fee.
The former Portsmouth man has signed a contract until the summer of 2012, his new club have confirmed.
The 22-year-old was no longer needed at Genoa and was already close to joining Genk on the last day of the summer transfer window. However, both clubs failed to reach an agreement and the transfer then fell through.
Genk didn't give up on Vanden Borre though and have now completed the transfer after all. The Belgian international will start training with the Jupiler Pro League side on Thursday, but won't be available for official matches until January 1, 2011.
Vanden Borre is a product of the Anderlecht youth academy and made over 50 official appearances for the Brussels side before joining Fiorentina in the summer of 2007. He then joined Genoa only one season later, but failed to make an impact at the club.
He spent last season on loan at Portsmouth and will now try to resurrect his career in his native country.
