Sammer plays down Gotze worries

The 21-year-old has been out of action since being forced off with a muscular problem in former club Borussia Dortmund's Champions League clash with Real Madrid on April 30
Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has revealed that Mario Gotze is "right on schedule" in his recovery from a troublesome thigh problem and played down worries over his fitness.

The Germany international suffered the injury during former club Borussia Dortmund's Champions League semi-final, second-leg clash with Real Madrid at the end of April.

There have been some concerns over just how long Gotze's rehabilitation is taking, but Sammer says that the 21-year-old will soon be in a position to make his die Roten debut.

"Mario is right on schedule," the former sweeper is quoted as saying by Bild. "He is being treated by Doc Mueller-Wohlfahrt and our superb physios, and is working very professionally."

According to the paper, Gotze, who this summer became the most expensive German player in history when Bayern agreed to meet his €37 (£32m) million buy-out clause, is expected to be fit for the start of the new season on August 10.
