Ambitious Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen have completed the transfer of promising youngster Nicolai Jorgensen from Danish side AB Copenhagen for an undisclosed fee. The attacker has signed a five-year deal with the Werkself.
Leverkusen have been in the market for a fourth attacker for a while, needing a player to compete with Patrick Helmes, Eren Derdiyok and Stefan Kiessling for two spots in the starting XI.
The 19-year-old was one of the key performers at Copenhagen last season and his impressive performances haven't gone unnoticed elsewhere. Leverkusen offered Jorgensen a trial period and the Denmark under-19 star managed to convince the German side of his qualities.
"With the capture of Nicolai Jorgensen, we have signed the fourth attacker we were looking for. He's a very talented guy with a lot of potential. I'm convinced that he'll help the team in the new season," said Leverkusen chief Wolfgang Holzhauser on the club's official website.
