Germany international Michael Ballack has inked a two-year deal at Bayer Leverkusen after his release by Chelsea, the club announced today.
Ballack, 33, was refused new terms at the Premier League champions after four years in west London. The injured midfielder has got over the rejection by moving back to the Bundesliga outfit where he previously played from 1999-2002.
Despite a counter-offer from Steve McLaren's Wolfsburg, Ballack decided on the £4.94 million per-year contract put on the table by Bayer. His experience will be vital after the BayArena side finished fourth in the German top flight last term.
