OFFICIAL: Germany coach Joachim Loew signs contract extension until 2012

Joachim Loew's contract with the German football association (DFB) expired after this summer's World Cup and the tactician's future has been surrounded by question marks since the end of the tournament.

The DFB have confirmed that Joachim Loew has signed a new contract until the summer of 2012. Assistant coach Hansi Flick, team manager Oliver Bierhoff and goalkeeper coach Andreas Koepke have all signed new deals until 2012, too.

"I'm very happy that we've managed to hold on to Joachim Loew and his technical staff. German football has made some great progress since 2004 and the contract renewal of Loew was one of our main priorities," was DFB president Theo Zwanziger quoted as saying on a press conference.

The 50-year-old will be in charge of der Mannschaft during both the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign and the tournament in Poland/Ukraine itself as a result of the contract extension.
