Celtic manager Neil Lennon not worried despite pre-season defeat in Australia

Hoops boss claims his players have been doing a lot of travelling and will be tired, so can be proud of their efforts despite going down 1-0 to Central Coast Mariners
Celtic manager Neil Lennon praised his players' performances despite losing 1-0 to Australian side Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.

The Northern Irishman watched his side struggle to create changes before conceding late against the second-place A-League side.

However, he was nonetheless buoyed by his players' spirit and focus shown in training during their pre-season tour down under.

"The players' condition and the quality, particularly second half, it was a remarkable performance when you consider the week they've been through," the Hoops boss told Australian reporters.

"They've been traveling all the way over on Tuesday and Wednesday and then one day's training, played very, very well second half and controlled the game.

"I thought they scored with their one shot on target but overall I'm delighted with the performance."

Lennon will bring his Celtic side to Perth next weekend to face the Glory before finishing their tour of Australia against the Melbourne Victory four days later.
