Official: Former Brazil international Ze Roberto joins Qatari club Al Gharafa

The 37-year-old veteran midfielder has now decided to leave Germany after a long career in the Bundesliga, where he made the most appearances by any foreign player

Veteran Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto has turned down a contract extension with Hamburg to join Qatari club Al Gharafa.

The 37-year-old Brazilian, who won 84 international caps from 1995 to 2007, has signed a two-year contract with the club.

The former Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen man had been offered a one-year extension by Hamburg.

Ze Roberto will replace Juninho at Al Gharafa after his compatriot opted to return to Brazil.

Al Gharafa, who are coached by former Senegal boss Bruno Metsu, finished second in the 2010-11 season.
