The Bundesliga side beat the Gunners in the previous Group B clash, and the German club's head trainer hopes his squad can bounce back with another win after losing this weekend

Schalke head coach Huub Stevens has played coy over his team selection in the German club’s Champions League clash against Arsenal on Tuesday night.

The Bundesliga side beat the Gunners 2-0 in the north London leg a fortnight ago to dent their opponents’ impressive home record in European competition.

Having been beaten 3-2 by Hoffenheim this weekend in their domestic league, Stevens could choose to freshen his side for their crucial Group B tie, though he has refused to divulge who will start.

“I don't know exactly in which formation Arsenal will start,” the former PSV Eindhoven coach told reporters on Monday. “I don't know who is injured there.

“We have to focus on ourselves. We will have to think about who will start for us. We have three keepers and one of them will stand between the posts, but I will not answer now who that will be.

“We changed our formation for the [3-0 German Cup win] against Sandhausen. I don't know yet if we will change it again. We are not thinking about this weekend's defeat at Hoffenheim anymore."

Stevens reiterated that his squad have moved on from their recent loss, and he admitted he hopes the club can learn from defeats such as that one.

“We might change the team to bring in some fresher players,” the Dutchman added. “We have left the last Bundesliga game behind us and are focusing on this Champions League match.

“I have no idea why Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is scoring in the Champions League on a regular basis and not in the Bundesliga – you have to ask him that question.

“We have to learn from our experiences. The match in Hoffenheim is something we have to learn from.”
