Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery was expected to be available for the Bundesliga giant's match against Werder Bremen, but the Frenchman has been dealt a blow in his pursuit of fitness.
Ribery has been sidelined for a further three weeks and will therefore miss the team's Champions League encounter against Inter, and will not be in selection consideration for coach Louis van Gaal for league matches against Bremen, Koeln and Hoffenheim.
Originally set to miss only two weeks, the Frenchman has had his time on the sidelines extended by club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt, according to Bild.
The injury was sustained against Wolfsburg after being on the pitch for 16 minutes.
Since his arrival at the Bavarian club in 2007, Ribery has missed 52 out of a possible 184 matches with injury. He has only been able to pair up with star winger Arjen Robben 24 out a possible 79 times.
