Sheffield Wednesday sign QPR striker Bothroyd on loan

The 30-year-old attacker has completed a temporary move to the Owls, which will see him turn out for the Championship side until January 2, as Mark Hughes' revolution continues
QPR forward Jay Bothroyd has joined newly-promoted Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on loan until 2 January.

The 30-year-old, who joined the Premier League outfit from Cardiff City at the start of last season, will team up with his Bluebirds boss, Dave Jones, who is now manager of Wednesday.

The striker, who netted two goals in 24 games across all competitions last term, joins the Owls after their automatic promotion from League One last year following a second-placed finish.

Mark Hughes has been a busy man this transfer window, with the Rs' boss signing the likes of Jose Bosingwa, Julio Cesar, Esteban Granero and Ji-Sung Park already.

The west London outfit are not done yet either as Marsellie defender Stephane M'bia is rumoured to be close to joining the Premier League club, with reports suggesting the Cameroon international left France on a jet to ensure he would complete his medical and personal terms in time.

Speculation also remains over the future of QPR's Joey Barton, who is currently serving a 12 match ban after being sent-off against Manchester City on the final day of last season.

The midfielder is understood to be close to joining OM on a season-long loan as part of M'bia's switch to Loftus Road.
