Brighton's Adam El-Abd included in Egypt’s squad for Mozambique clash

The Brighton defender has profited from an injury to Wael Gomaa and received his first call-up ever to the Egyptian national team, while forward Shikabala finds himself ousted

Egypt national team coach Bob Bradley has released a list of 30 players who will form his roster for the upcoming World Cup 2014 qualifier against Mozambique that will take place on June 1 at the Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria.

A surprise inclusion in the squad is Brighton defender Adam El-Abd. The British-born 27-year-old has been called up for the first time in his career to replace veteran centre-back Wael Gomaa, who will miss out through a calf injury.

FRIENDLY FIRE?
5/1 Egypt are 5/1 with William Hill to beat Somalia 3-0 in Wednesday's friendly.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Fathi and Sayed Moawad are back in Bradley’s team after missing out on the previous training camp due to their respective knocks.

Unsurprisingly, the ever-controversial Shikabala has been dropped following the outburst he directed at Zamalek coach Hassan Shehata during a recent Caf Champions League match against Maghreb Fes.  Former Wigan player, Amr Zaki, was overlooked as well.
