Nadir Belhadj quits Portsmouth for Qatar-based side Al Sadd

Qatari club Al Sadd have announced they have completed the signing of Algerian star Nadir Belhadj from Portsmouth

Belhadj had been linked with a move to Italian side Lazio recently but has instead decided to make the move to Doha.

Al Sadd general secretary Jassim Al Rumaihi spoke of his delight at capturing the Algerian ace.

"The move of Belhadj to Al Sadd is really big as he will be a big addition to the team," Al Rumaihi told the club's official website.

"We were planning to sign him a long time ago and we managed to conclude the deal with Portsmouth.

"Belhadj had a lot offers from European clubs but his desire to play with us helped us to make the deal.

"He will join us in our training camp in Italy and Austria before being presented to the media when we return to Doha."
