Giroud hoping to out-score Alexis at Arsenal

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is hoping to score more goals than Alexis Sanchez this season and help the Gunners to a top-four finish.

The Chile international made a flying start to the season but has scored just once in the Premier League in his last seven games, while, over the same period, Giroud has netted eight times.

Both players are now tied on 13 goals apiece and the French frontman is keen to finish ahead of the former Barcelona ace in the scoring charts – especially if it helps Arsenal claim a Champions League place.

“I'm not going to say something silly because it'll be reported, but why not finish ahead of Alexis?” Giroud told RMC.

“We push each other, we're on 13 goals, and I would like to score some more to help the team achieve its objectives.”

Giroud had controversially called on Didier Deschamps to hand him a starting role with France at last summer’s World Cup, but now says he is happy to help Les Blues in any way he can, even if only off the bench.

“I have no demand to make. It's not me who picks the team. I get the impression I'm repeating myself, but it's the truth,” he continued.

“What's important for me is to be called up and to contribute as soon as I can. Sometimes I'm criticised for being too honest in what I say, so I am trying to be more considered and straight bat things a bit more, I'm sorry.”

Giroud and Alexis may be vying to be Arsenal's leading scorer this season, but which one do you think think will score the most goals for the Gunners NEXT SEASON? Let us know below...
