De Gea is world's best goalkeeper, claims Manchester United team-mate Chicharito

The Mexico international forward believes that his fellow Red Devil compares favourably to the likes of Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon at the top of their game
Manchester United striker Chicharito believes that team-mate David de Gea is "the best goalkeeper in the world".

The Mexican had claimed in February that the Spaniard would be the No.1 in his position within a couple of years but now feels that his prediction has already come true.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form in 2013, steering his club to the Premier League title before also playing a crucial part in Spain's successful defence of the Under-21s European Championship in Israel.

"For me he's the best goalkeeper in the world," Chicharito told the club's official website.

"We all talk about development and having to go down a certain career path and, of course, at his age many people would have been scared to give him the place he's earned for himself.

"But I think that this season he has really benefited from being given the opportunity to play on a regular basis.

"He was first choice between the sticks and I think that any player in the world shows his true ability when he has the chance to get a decent run of games in the side and David has really shown his quality.

"He was voted best goalkeeper in the Premier League, so I would say he is doing very nicely."
