Brazil international David Luiz insists he has improved both technically and tactically since making the move to Chelsea.

The 26-year-old signed for the west London club in January 2011 after four years with Benfica and has reportedly been attracting the interest of La Liga champions Barcelona.

It is unclear whether Luiz, who started Brazil's opening Confederations Cup victory over Japan on Saturday, will be a part of new manager Jose Mourinho's long-term plans at Stamford Bridge but the versatile defender believes he has improved since swapping Portugal for England.

"I have become a better player at Chelsea," he told Goal.

"When you open your mind you learn a lot of things, and I did this in England.

"From this I have learned to be a better technical and tactical player with Chelsea than I was when I played at Benfica."

Brazil's next Confederations Cup fixture is against Mexico on June 19, where Luiz will likely continue at centre-back alongside Paris Saint-Germain star Thiago Silva.
