Rodgers: Suarez is fully committed to Liverpool

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has dismissed rumours that star striker Luis Suarez will be leaving the club amid interest from Manchester City.

The Uruguayan has already scored 20 goals this season but exclusively revealed earlier in January that he will consider his future in the summer, eager to play in the Champions League.

Club captain Steven Gerrard has gone on record with his fears that a lack of elite European competition could convinced Suarez to leave, however, Rodgers insists that the forward is fully committed to his long-term contract, which he signed in August.

"Luis had a terrific season last season and he had an opportunity to leave in the summer, and probably would have had a ready-made excuse with a new manager coming in, but he never did," the Reds boss told reporters.

"He committed to the club. He sees the vision going forward and he believes in that.

"He knows it won't happen overnight. He has had a brilliant season with 20 goals until now and hopefully there are many more to come."
